The Kanvar Yatra is annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva which is also known as Kanvarias. All Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Goddess Ganges River, which is later offered at their local Shiva temples. According to the Hindu calendar, the Yatra takes place during the godly month of Saawan (July -August).
The month of saawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and most devotees comply a fast on Mondays during the month. ALL religious pilgrimages, bathing in holy rivers and austerity. During the annual Mansoon season, all pilgrims carrying water from the goddess Ganga River in Haridwar, Gangotri or Gaumukh, and return to their hometowns, where they later they perform abhisheka the Shivalingas at the local Shiva temples.
